Adaptive PI Control of Bottom Hole Pressure during Oil Well Drilling

Abstract In this paper, we studied the bottom hole pressure (BHP) control in an oil well during drilling. Today marginal wells with narrow pressure windows are frequently being drilled. This requires accurate and precise control to balance the bottom hole pressure between the pore and fracture pressure of the reservoir. This paper deals with the modelling of highly nonlinear switching power-electronics converters using black-box identification methods. The duty cycle and the output voltage are chosen, respectively, as the input and the output of the model. The aim of this work is to present a method for tuning the parameters of PD controller under the influences of the uncertainties, in order to stabilize the position of a rotor supported by active magnetic bearings (AMBs). The uncertainties are relative to mass, transverse and polar moment of inertia of the rotor. Method for designing PI-type fuzzy controllers for induction motor drives

The paper illustrates a new systematic method for designing PI-type fuzzy controllers for direct field-oriented controlled induction motor drives. First, linear and decoupled models expressing the dynamics of speed, rotor flux, direct and inquadrature stator currents are derived using a nonlinear static compensator and choosing convenient input variables. Then, to guide the dynamics of the above quantities, four conventional PI controllers are designed independently, choosing their bandwidths conveniently. Frequency-modulated atomic force microscopy operation by imaging at the frequency shift minimum: the dip-df mode.

In frequency modulated non-contact atomic force microscopy, the change of the cantilever frequency (Delta f) is used as the input signal for the topography feedback loop. Around the Delta f(z) minimum, however, stable feedback operation is challenging using a standard proportional-integral-derivative (PID) feedback design due to the change of sign in the slope. When operated under liquid conditions, it is furthermore difficult to address the attractive interaction regime due to its often moderate peakedness. This paper describes an application of the visual servoing approach to vision-based control in robotics. The basic idea addresses the use of a vision sensor in the feedback loop within the controlled vision framework. It consists in tracking of arbitrary 3-D objects travelling at unknown velocities in a 2-D space (depth is given as known).
